MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) said some 3,416 children with comorbidities had been vaccinated against COVID-19. The DOH also said that from the initial eight pilot hospitals where phase 1 of the pediatric vaccination began, there were now 16 new vaccination sites that would accept children with underlying conditions. Vaccination in the additional sites will begin on Oct. 22, also the commencement of phase 2 of the government’s pediatric vaccination program. Under phase 2, all local governments in the National Capital Region will have at least one hospital-based vaccination site for pediatric vaccination. Phase 3 of the program will begin on Nov. 5, in regions where more than 50 percent of senior citizens have been vaccinated. —PATRICIA DENISE M. CHIU
