2 dead, 8 wounded in dance hall shooting

Bacolod City — Two persons were killed while eight others were wounded late Saturday when a former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade and three unidentified men fired at a civilian inside a dance hall in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Killed were Richard Lisbog Centina, 40, of Silay and Sonny Boy Suerte Tongcua, 41, of Talisay City.

Police said the victims were attending a dance at Hacienda Lapuz, Barangay Capitan Ramon, Silay, when four armed men fired at Centina.

Tongcua and eight others were hit in the crossfire, police said.

One of the assailants was identified as Ryan Layo of the Hacienda San Rafael Barangay Guimbala-on, Silay and an alleged former RPA/ABB member.

Centina was able to fire back despite being wounded, said Superintendent Rosauro Francisco Jr., Silay police chief. Francisco, without elaborating, said an old grudge was behind the shooting.

Layo and his unidentified companions remained at large.

Aside from Centina, wounded were identified as Mark Derbin Mila Bacera , 16; Glegerio de la Peña Guardiano, 43; Mark Llorico Guardiano, 16; Joel Rosi Mainge, 49; Herman Saghe De la Cruz, 42; Johnny Centina Lima, 16; Dalton Alvarez Mayo, 18; and Marcelo Penida Gonzales, 44; all of Silay City. /INQUIRER
