COVID-19 in Olongapo: Zero new cases, deaths

For the first time since recording its first COVID-19 cases at the onset of the pandemic, Olongapo City did not register any new infections on Sunday, October 17, 2021. (Photo by Joanna Rose Aglibot)

OLONGAPO CITY The city reported zero new cases and deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday, October 17, local data showed.

It was the first time that the city logged zero new infections since registering its first COVID-19 cases at the onset of the health crisis last year.

The city’s active cases also dropped to 198, its lowest in recent months, after nine more virus-infected patients were cleared of the disease.

In a statement, Mayor Rolen Paulino thanked all front-liners and the city’s residents for fighting the pandemic.

So far, the city has already recorded 5,377 confirmed COVID-19 cases but at least 4,888 of them had been healed already.

The city’s death toll stood at 291, the same data from the local task force showed. INQ
