Zamboanga Peninsula only region in PH that is high risk for COVID-19 —DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The Zamboanga Peninsula remains to be the only region in the country with a high risk classification for COVID-19, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported on Monday.

“Most regions are showing negative two-week growth rates. However, majority remain with high-risk average daily attack rates (ADAR),” Vergeire said during the Department of Health media forum.

“Region 9 is the sole region with high-risk case classification,” she added.

As of Sunday, the Zamboanga Peninsula has 3,099 active COVID-19 cases.

Its current ADAR per 100,000 population increased to 9.24 from 9.23 on October 3, while its hospital bed utilization stood at 70.29 percent as of October 16.

Zamboanga Peninsula’s two-week growth rate is at 0.02 percent, DOH data shows.

Its utilization of mechanical ventilators and intensive care units are 61.11 percent and 54.02 percent, respectively.

Nationally, the country is under moderate risk classification.
