3 town mayors in E. Samar running unopposed

TACLOBAN CITY — At least three municipal mayors in Eastern Samar province are running unopposed in next year’s elections.

Boei Evardone of Arteche, Heraclio Santiago of Maslog, and Rafael Asebias of Quinapondan just needed one vote to win.

The three of them are members of the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Except for Asebias, the running mates of both Evardone and Santiago are also running without any opponents.

Mayor Evardone has his father, Rolando, as his running mate while Santiago is running with his brother Septemio. Both Rolando and Septemio were former mayors.

Meanwhile, in the town of San Policarpo, it will be a son and mother tandem. Reelectionist Mayor Conrado Nicart will be running again with his mother, Thelma, who once served the town mayor.

In Oras town, incumbent mayor, Vivienne Alvarez, will be running as a councilor with her husband, Neil, aiming to reclaim the post he once held.

In the municipality of Dolores, the incumbent mayor, Shonny Nino Carpeso, is running for vice mayor while his brother Zaldy is running for mayor.

Can-avid Mayor Norman Germino, who is in his last term in office, is running for vice mayor.

Meanwhile, Borongan City Vice Mayor Emmanuel Tiu Sonco is sure to get a second term as he is running without any opponent.

Former Eastern Samar Gov. Marcelo Ferdinand Picardal will be running as vice governor of the province. He will be facing reelectionist Vice Gov. Maria Caridad Goteesan, the running-mate of reelectionist Gov. Ben Evardone.
