OK’d for minors, fully vaxxed seniors over 65 from NCR to GCQ, MGCQ areas

MANILA, Philippines — Minors or those below 18 years old as well as fully vaccinated individuals over 65 years old from Metro Manila are now allowed point-to-point interzonal travel to areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ.

The government’s pandemic task force, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases, expanded the list of persons allowed interzonal travel to GCQ and MGCQ areas.

These include:

-those below 18 years old

-fully vaccinated individuals over 65 years old

-fully vaccinated individuals with comorbidities or other health risks

-fully vaccinated pregnant women

This comes as the government is set to start vaccinating minors aged 12 to 17 years old on Oct. 15.

The IATF earlier eased the rules on the interzonal travel of fully-vaccinated persons, including senior citizens, and only required that they present proof of their complete COVID-19 vaccination instead of COVID-19 test results.

Interzonal travel refers to the movement between provinces, highly urbanized cities, and independent component cities under different community quarantine classifications.

All travelers, however, are still required to undergo health and exposure screening protocols upon arrival at their destinations.
