“Yung sinimulan namin na pakikipagusap kahit di bahagi ng partido,” she added.

In filing her certificate of candidacy, Robredo indicated that she is an independent candidate.

Robredo currently chairs the once-ruling Liberal Party.

“Ang pagkakandidato naman sa pangulo ay hindi para sa partido pero para sa nagkakaisang lakas ng sambayanan,” she went on.

With her running as an independent, will the Liberal Party adopt her as a presidential candidate? Pangilinan, the party’s president, said it has been earlier decided that Robredo will be their candidate for the presidency.

“We already passed a resolution in our National Executive council meeting na our candidate for president is VP Leni. So that is already set and therefore the party will mobilize behind her,” he said.
