MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) denied issuing any announcement on class and government work suspensions for Wednesday, August 27.
In a statement on Tuesday, the DILG said a social media page called “Philippines Weather Advisory” had posted the false information.
“This is fake news. We clarify that no such announcement has been made by the DILG secretary,” the DILG said. “We urge our kababayans to be alert, discerning, and to rely only on official government channels for accurate updates.”
“The Department is already considering legal actions against the perpetrators of this fake news, as spreading false advisories endangers public safety and erodes trust in government institutions,” it added.
