‘Kabayan’ Noli de Castro files COC for senator
MANILA, Philippines — After an 11-year break from politics, broadcast journalist and former vice president Noli de Castro on Friday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator.
De Castro lodged his COC at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City.
De Castro on Thursday bid farewell to his ABS-CBN Teleradyo program “Kabayan” and later took his oath as a member of Aksyon Demokratiko, headed by presidential aspirant and City of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
He topped the senatorial elections in 2001, garnering more than 16 million votes. De Castro was elected vice president in 2004.
De Castro was also host of the news magazine program Magandang Gabi Bayan and the main anchor of ABS-CBN’s prime time newscast TV Patrol.
