CITY OF MALOLOS—Incumbent Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando on Thursday (Oct. 7) filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for a second term and was joined by his running mate, Provincial Board Member Alexis Castro, who also filed his COC for vice governor. Fernando and Castro are the standard bearers of the National Unity Party (NUP) in the province. The governor will be facing his longtime political ally, Vice Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, who also filed his COC for governor on Wednesday under PDP-Laban. Castro, on the other hand, will run against Alvarado’s running mate, former Rep. Joselito Mendoza of the third district.
