‘Goma’ files COC for congressman
TACLOBAN CITY—Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez has filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman in Leyte’s fourth district on Wednesday (Oct. 6).
Gomez, who is running as a PDP-Laban candidate, was joined by wife Lucy Torres Gomez, incumbent representative who is running for mayor hoping to replace her husband, and their daughter, Juliana.
Others present during Gomez’s filing were mayors in the district, Leyte Vice Gov. Carlo Loreto and An Waray Rep. Florencio Noel.
Gomez said he would propose legislation for the youth, sports and the fight against drugs.
He said he would also push for legislation against fake news “to protect the people.”
Gomez, formerly a star of ABS-CBN, was noncommittal when asked if he would support a franchise renewal for the network. He said there were still “various questions that need to be answered” about the issue.
