COVID-19 deaths exceed new cases in Tarlac’s single-day tally

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––For the first time since the pandemic began last year, the number of new deaths from COVID-19 exceeded the new cases in Tarlac province, data from the provincial government showed on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

While the province recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases, it had 28 deaths due to the viral disease on Tuesday.

The fatalities include residents of Gerona town (8), Concepcion (7), Bamban (5), Camiling (5), Capas (2), and Anao (1).

The new cases include seven residents of Tarlac City, three from Camiling town, two from San Clemente, and one each from Capas, Gerona, La Paz, Moncada, and Sta. Ignacia.

The data also showed that 167 COVID-19 patients had recovered from the disease, while 1,742 remained sick as of Tuesday.

It has recorded 16,520 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out last year. Of these, 14,244 have recovered, while 534 have died.

The provincial government said 224,968 residents had been vaccinated fully against the COVID-19, while 288,891 had the first dose of the vaccines.

Tarlac leaders plan to inoculate 1,052,419 eligible residents out of its total population of 1,503,456 based on the 2020 census.
