CITY OF CALAPAN – Oriental Mindoro 1st District Representative Salvador “Doy” Leachon filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) Tuesday for governor of Oriental Mindoro against incumbent Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor in the May 2022 elections.

Leachon, a house deputy speaker, is running under the first major political party in the province Mindoro Bago Sarili (MBS) Party which he founded and launched on September 28.

Leachon, Oriental Mindoro Vice Governor Jojo Perez (who is seeking re-election this coming polls), and Dolor were allies in the 2019 elections but had a falling out that was seen by netizens in their heated online exchanges.

Leachon apparently disagreed on the pandemic response of Dolor, which the latter said is black propaganda.

Dolor filed his COC on October 2 with Pinoy Big Brother winner Ejay Falcon for vice-governor. Falcon is from Pola town and is new in politics.
