Olongapo City bans visit to cemeteries during 'Undas'

OLONGAPO CITY—All public and private cemeteries, memorial parks and columbariums in the city will be closed to visitors in time for observing “Undas” as a precaution against COVID-19, an official said Tuesday, Oct. 5.

In an advisory, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the closure would take effect from Oct. 30-Nov. 2 as the country observes All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

But Paulino said these areas would remain open from Oct. 27-29 and Nov. 3-5 to allow a limited number of visitors, noting that 30-percent of the venue capacity would be enforced.

The visits, he added, would be subject to compliance with the minimum health standards, such as wearing face masks and observance of physical distancing.

Paulino said a Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team would be deployed to monitor the cemeteries during this period. INQ
