MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) plans to open pop-up consular offices in 10 more locations in the country to process applications for passports, according to Foreign Undersecretary Brigido Dulay.
Dulay said four or five of these temporary off-site passport services sites might open this month.
Among the areas being considered for the off-site offices include the cities of Cebu, Davao and Lipa.
The DFA has faced complaints of long lines at its offices and delayed release of passports.
On Saturday, Dulay attributed the DFA backlog to the limited number of passport applicants who could be accommodated due to health protocols.
