MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,233,300 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine were delivered to the Philippines on Thursday.

The vaccines arrived via a China Airlines flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at around 9:30 a.m., as shown on a livestream by state-run PTV.

Of the 1.2 million Moderna doses, the National Task Force against COVID-19 said 863,800 doses were procured by the national government.

The remaining 369,600 doses were bought by the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) foundation through a tripartite agreement with the government.

The shipment brings the total COVID-19 vaccine doses delivered to the country at over 71 million.

By end-October, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the country’s COVID-19 vaccine supply is expected to reach over 100 million doses.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has fully vaccinated more than 20.3 million persons against COVID-19.
