PH to get more than 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by end of October

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines expects the delivery of more than 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by the end of October, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the national vaccine manager, said on Monday in a taped briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Galvez, 9,586,270 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were delivered this week.

This brings the total vaccine doses now in the country to 64,942,000. Galvez said 22 million more doses are expected to arrive by the end of September.

“We now have a steady supply from Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna,q and COVAX. We are renegotiating with Russian Direct Investment Fund for Sputnik Lights,” said Galvez.

Meanwhile, 41,414,015 doses have already been administered, of which 22,853,606 individuals have already taken the first dose while 18,560,409 have completed the vaccination. Average doses daily are at 405,669 jabs per day.

Galvez said the number of vaccinated individuals represents 24.06% of the 70% target population and 16.84 of the total population.
