Active COVID-19 cases in Pampanga’s capital down by 8% in 2 days

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Active COVID-19 cases in the capital city of San Fernando were down by 8.4 percent in two days, after recovering patients far exceeded the new ones registered in the same period.

Data from the city government showed that 1,958 active cases on Sept. 26 dropped to 1,792 on Tuesday, Sept. 28.

Since Monday, the capital city recorded 232 recoveries, 69 new cases, and two deaths.

The last time recoveries surpassed new cases in San Fernando was Sept. 22.

As of Wednesday, Sindalan village has the most active cases at 208, followed by Bulaon with 206 and Calulut with 163.

San Fernando has registered 10,430 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 8,358 have recovered, while 280 have died.

The Sept. 23 data showed that at least 96,451 or about 40 percent of the city’s eligible residents had been vaccinated fully against COVID-19.

A total of 133,740 individuals comprising 55 percent of the target residents have received their first dose of the vaccine.
