COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City breach 5,000-mark

OLONGAPO CITY Three more patients here have succumbed to COVID-19 complications as the total number of confirmed cases already surpassed the 5,000-mark, local health data showed Monday.

One of the latest COVID-19 fatalities was a senior citizen aged 64 while the other two were aged 34 and 51.

Their passing raised to 247 the city’s COVID-19 death toll based on the data from the local inter-agency task force.

Some 47 new infections were also added to the city’s growing data from September 25-26, pushing to 5,040 Olongapo’s confirmed cases since the pandemic struck last year.

The same data showed that 63 patients had recovered from the viral disease in the past two days, bringing to 745 the city’s active infections.

Healthcare workers were also monitoring at least 125 suspected COVID-19 cases. INQ
