Gov’t work hours shortened on Sept. 27 for Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day

Malacañang allowed the shortened work hours in government offices under the executive branch on Monday, Sept. 27, to allow employees to celebrate the Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang allowed the shortened work hours in government offices under the executive branch on Monday, Sept. 27, to allow employees to celebrate the Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day.

Work hours will be suspended from 3:30 p.m. onwards, according to a memorandum circular issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, which was released to the media on Wednesday.

Malacañang also encouraged other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and the private sector to do the same.

However, agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness and response to disasters and calamities and other vital services shall continue operating and render their services.

Under Proclamation No. 326, the fourth Monday of September of every year is declared as Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day in a bid to “highlight and celebrate the value of families sharing meals together as a national tradition that should be observed annually and sustained by all Filipino families.”

Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 60 provides that the last week of September of every year is declared as Family Week.
