Smartmatic’s tech support receives 10 errors during internet voting test run

MANILA, Philippines — The technical support of electronic voting firm Smartmatic received 10 errors during the 48-hour internet voting test run using TIVI, the company’s online voting system.
Smartmatic recorded six credential concerns from overseas voters, and two error reports each on verification and device error.
“Basically, the main errors or problems that the voter find is to get the credentials,” Smartmatic’s Technology Department and Support Manager Salvador Sosa said during the closing ceremony of the voting test run.
He added that the team resent the credentials to the voter’s email to address the issue. Meanwhile, reloading the page worked on computer error issues.
“Not a lot of error. It was really, really good,” Sosa added.
According to Smartmatic’s sales operations manager Fe Ordoño, the technical support was available 24/7 during the 48-hour test run.
“We were on 24/7 support. So, the team was split into time zone. There was time zone — PH team was the one supporting, then afterwards, Europe, and then America,” Ordono mentioned.
Comelec observed a 63.67 percent voter turnout using TIVI, higher than the 52-percent turnout using technology firm Voatz’s platform.
