Angeles City logs highest single-day COVID-19 tally at 186

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Angeles City recorded Thursday 186 COVID-19 cases, its highest single-day tally since the pandemic began last year, data from the city government showed.

It also registered 75 recoveries and two deaths on the same day. The fatalities were residents of Balibago and Pampang villages.

The city still has at least 1,560 active infections.

Cutcut village, which has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the city at 205, recorded Thursday 58 new ones.

The city government has vaccinated more than 16,000 residents in Cutcut through its “Sundo Bakuna” program that brought residents using six buses and 10 jeepneys to the city’s vaccination sites from Aug. 24 to 26.

The 186 new cases surpassed Thursday this city’s 148 single-day tally on Aug. 27, when Cutcut logged 20 new infections.

This city had recorded 11,032 COVID-19 cases since the onset of the pandemic last year. Of these, 9,025 have recovered, while 447 have died.

Some 113,053 or 34.9 percent of the target population in the city have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and 161,194 or 49.7 percent of about 324,000 eligible residents have received their first dose of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, or Sinopharm vaccines.
