MANILA, Philippines — The Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital (JJASGH) in Manila has reached its “critical level capacity,” having more patients than beds so that it has to suspend further admissions.
The hospital made the announcement in a Facebook post on Monday.
Both the hospital’s emergency and holding areas had also reached full capacity.
According to its management, the hospital will only accept new admissions on the discharge of other patients.
As of Sept. 13, Manila has a total of 79,997 COVID-19 cases, of which 1,247 are active cases, 77,224 recoveries, and 1,526 deaths.
Nationwide, the total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,248,071 , which includes 180,293 active infections, 2,032,471 recoveries, and 35,307 deaths.
According to the Department of Health, occupied ICU beds in Metro Manila are currently at 78 percent, isolation beds at 65 percent, and ward beds at 72 percent.
