PH logs 20,745 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 2,248,071

MANILA, Philippines — Another 20,745 cases in the Philippines increased the total COVID-19 cases to 2,248,071 on Monday, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

Meanwhile, the DOH reported a higher number of patients who recovered from the serious respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus at 22,290, increasing the total number of recoveries to 2,032,471.

Current active COVID-19 infections, on the other hand, are currently at 180,293 nationwide, which accounts for 26.7 percent of the total number of individuals tested — 71,860.

Of the active cases, 86 percent are suffering mild cases, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, 2.62 percent moderate, 1.4 percent severe, and 0.6 percent critical.

In the total tests conducted on September 11, however, five laboratories were not able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, the DOH said. These five labs contribute, on average, 1.2 percent of samples tested and 1.4 percent of positive individuals.

The DOH also recorded 163 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 35,307.

It noted that 41 duplicates were removed from the overall case figure including 30 recoveries and one death.

“Sa mga susunod na araw ay maaari pang tumaas ang ating mga kaso ng COVID-19,” the DOH said.

The DOH also reported that 74 percent of ICU beds, 69 percent of isolation beds, 74 percent of ward beds, and 57 percent of ventilators are currently in use across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Metro Manila, meanwhile, occupied ICU beds are currently at 78 percent, isolation beds at 65 percent, ward beds at 72 percent while 61 percent of available ventilators were also being used in the region, said DOH.
