PNP chief seeks immediate destruction of seized drugs

MANILA, Philippines — Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police, sought on Sunday the immediate destruction of some P5.5 billion worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) seized recently during a series of high-level narcotic busts.

Eleazar said the PNP was closely coordinating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to seek court clearance to destroy some 809 kilograms of shabu confiscated in anti-illegal drug operations in Zambales, Bataan and Cavite.

“This is based on the orders of President Duterte to destroy illegal drugs as soon as possible to prevent allegations and speculations of drug recycling,” he said.
