MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported its highest tally of daily COVID-19 cases at 26,303 which brought the country’s caseload to 2,206,021 since the pandemic started.

The new all-time high record beats the number of COVID-19 cases reported on September 9 at 22,820 cases.

“Out of the 26,303 new cases for September 11, 1,608 were cases which should be included in our September 10 topline numbers,” the DOH explained in a statement.

“The other 24,695 are actual cases to be reported for September 11,” it added.

The country’s active COVID-19 cases are now at 185,706 or 8.4 percent of all cases, with 95.5 percent having mild or no symptoms.

Meanwhile, the total number of recoveries in the country is now at 1,985,337 or 90 percent of all cases, after 16,013 new recoveries were reported.

The DOH said  52 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which, 45 are recoveries.

“Moreover, 32 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.

The DOH said while some technical issues have been resolved by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), some data from the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) are not yet included in the COVID-KAYA — a platform that stores data from all confirmed COVID-19 cases — and remain unavailable for extraction.

“While we await the full resolution of this issue, we may observe some delays in the inclusion of some data in our topline numbers in the coming days but we are managing this by generating data from CDRS and submitted line lists by our disease reporting units,” DOH said.

Meanwhile, the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker reported that the Philippines is only behind Indonesia in terms of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia with 4,158,731 cases.

As of posting, the COVID-19 global case count is now at 223.8 million including 4.6 million deaths, according to the tracker.
