Typhoon Kiko makes landfall in Batanes
MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Kiko made landfall over Ivana, Batanes at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The weather bureau earlier said in its 8 a.m. bulletin that the typhoon was forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Batan and Sabtang Islands in Batanes in the next three hours.
The center of the eye of the typhoon was last spotted over the coastal waters of Sabtang, Batanes, according to Pagasa.
Moving north-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour, the typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 215 kph and gusts of 265 kph.
