MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said every tandem is possible in the 2022 elections as there is no solid political scenario among the potential candidates yet.
“Everything is possible right now. The only thing that’s impossible is me running with Sen. Ping or with Tito Sen because they’re already clear,” Marcos answered during the Kapihan sa Manila Bay webinar when asked about the possibility of a tandem with presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Marcos referred to Senator Panfilo “Ping Lacson” and Senate President Vicente Sotto III who have announced their tandem for the 2022 polls.
“Every other combination, Romualdez-Marcos, Marcos-Romualdez, isama na rin natin (let’s also include in the possible tandems). All of these are still up in the air,” the former senator added, referring to his cousin Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez.
Aside from being the House Majority Leader, Romualdez is the party president of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.
When asked about the possibility of a tandem between him and Romualdez, Marcos said: “I think Cong. Martin will follow the party line and depends on what they decide.”
Marcos also said he is now closer to a decision on whether to run for 2022 but is “not there yet.” However, he noted that he is eyeing a national post.
