MANILA, Philippines — Only a few groups have applied so far with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to review the automated election system source code that will be used in the May 2022 polls. Political parties and organizations have until Sept. 10 to apply to be part of the local source code review.
“We once again call on election stakeholders to proactively take part in scrutinizing the technology and studying the system that will be used in the May 9, 2022 polls,” said James Jimenez, spokesperson for Comelec.
Asked how many have applied so far, Jimenez replied: “Too few.”
The local source code review is a “key component in promoting transparency and building public confidence and trust in the electoral process,” Jimenez added. Interested groups may apply online with Comelec.
