Another top record: PH logs 22,415 new COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has, once again, recorded its highest daily count of 22,415 COVID-19 cases ever since the pandemic hit the country in 2020, the Department of Health (DOH) said Monday.

This is also the fourth consecutive day COVID cases have breached the 20,000-mark.

With this number, the DOH’s latest bulletin showed that COVID-19 cases have increased current active infections to 159,633 nationwide, as well as total confirmed cases to 2,103,331 as of September 6.

Meanwhile, the DOH reported that 20,109 patients recovered from the serious respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, increasing the total number of recoveries to 1,909,361.

The DOH also recorded 103 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 34,337.

Of the active cases, the DOH said 92.1 percent were mild cases, 3.3 percent were asymptomatic, 1.4 percent were severe, 2.48 percent were moderate, and 0.6 percent were critical.

“Sa mga susunod na araw ay maaari pang tumaas ang ating mga kaso ng COVID-19,” the DOH said.

(Our COVID-19 cases are still likely to increase in the next few days.)

“Ang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards, maging pagsasagawa ng PDITR strategies, at pagbabakuna ay nanatiling pinakamabisang depensa sa COVID-19,” it reminded.

(Adherence to minimum public health standards, as well as implementation of PDITR strategies, and vaccination remain the most effective defenses against COVID-19.)

The DOH also reported that 76 percent of ICU beds, 66 percent of isolation beds, 72 percent of ward beds, and 57 percent of ventilators are currently in use across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Metro Manila, meanwhile, occupied ICU beds are currently at 73 percent, isolation beds at 63 percent, ward beds at 74 percent while 63 percent of available ventilators were also being used in the region, said DOH.
