Caloocan Mayor Malapitan now negative for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan announced on Sunday that he is now negative for COVID-19.

“Ngayong araw, nais kong ibahagi sa inyo ang magandang balita na ako ay nag-negatibo na sa COVID-19 at tapos na rin ang aking quarantine period,” Malapitan said in a statement.

(Today, I want to share with you the good news that I am negative for COVID-19 and I have finished my quarantine period.)

The mayor expressed appreciation to those who provided for his needs and for the messages and prayers.

(Most of all, I am thankful for the Almighty God because He did not neglect me and He healed me from this disease.)

Malapitan urged the public to get vaccinated, especially senior citizens like him, as the additional layer of protection helped him battle the disease.

(It is a big help that I am fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca’s vaccine despite being infected. I did not experience severe COVID-19 because I have the vaccine’s protection.)
