MANILA, Philippines — An additional 516 Delta COVID-19 variant cases were recorded in the country, driving the total cases to 1,789, the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Sunday.
Based on the report, 473 of the 516 Delta cases were local cases, 31 are returning overseas Filipinos (ROF), and 12 cases are still under verification.
Of the local cases, 114 have addresses in Metro Manila, 24 in Ilocos Region, 32 in Cagayan Valley, 64 in Central Luzon, 79 in Calabarzon, 20 in Mimaropa, 16 in Bicol, 13 in Western Visayas, 23 in Central Visayas, 12 in Zamboanga Peninsula, 48 in Northern Mindanao, 22 in Davao Region, and 6 in Cordillera Administrative Region.

Six cases are still active, five cases have died, while 505 have recovered, based on the Philippine Genome Center biosurveillance report.
In the meantime, 73 more Alpha variant cases were logged, raising the variant’s total cases to 2,395. Of the fresh cases, 71 were local cases and two were ROF cases.
Total Beta variant cases, meanwhile, stood at 2,669 with 81 new variant cases — two cases were ROFs while 78 were local cases.
Forty-one P.3 or Theta variant cases were likewise listed, all are local cases. One of the new patients died while the rest have recuperated.
A total of 748 samples were sequenced in 67 laboratories, collecting institutions, and various Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Units.
The DOH further reiterated to isolate upon onset of symptoms, consult with telemedicine providers, and coordinate with their Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams for isolation and testing. The health agency also urged the public to get vaccinated and comply with minimum public health standards.
