Road crash kills DPWH employee in Biliran town
ORMOC CITY – A job order employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was killed following a head-on motorcycle collision in Barangay Larrazabal, Naval town, Biliran at around 8:50 p.m. on Friday, August 27.
Cesar Japay, 62, was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by a companion when they bumped into another motorcycle driven by Patrolman Rey Lopera, according to Police Major Michael John Astorga, chief of the Naval Police Station.
An investigation conducted by the local police revealed that Lopera was conducting surveillance in Barangay Larrazabal, Naval town on board a motorcycle when the motorcycle of the victims suddenly swerved into the other lane, hitting the policeman.
Those involved in the collision were all brought to the hospital.
Japay died while being treated at the emergency room of the Biliran Provincial Hospital past 9 p.m.
