Pregnant woman from Leyte positive for Delta variant
TACLOBAN CITY––A pregnant woman from Leyte tested positive for the COVID-19 Delta variant.
Dr. Marc Steven Capungcol, head of the epidemiology and surveillance unit of the Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas, said the region now has 14 Delta variant cases.
Capungcol said the 8-month pregnant woman from Hindang town is now isolated at the local government-run facility.
“She appears to be asymptomatic. She returned last Aug. 9 from Davao City and traveled to Manila on her way to Tacloban. She was picked up at the Tacloban airport by her brother, who tested negative,” the health official said.
Of the 14 Delta variant cases in the region, only four are considered “active,” Capungcol said.
The other active cases are from Borongan City in Eastern Samar and Kawayan in Biliran province.
