MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested two Chinese workers of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) and their Filipino “bodyguard” in Pasay City over the abduction of two other Chinese nationals.

A report by the National Capital Region Police Office released to the media on Thursday identified the suspects as Zhui Beibei, 26, Niu Yong Xing, 32, and Rolando Olvido, 33. The police report indicated that the Chinese nationals were POGO employees while the Filipino was their bodyguard.

According to police, Chinese nationals Yong Qing Song, 38, male, and Miai Miao Chi, 38, female, were sold to the suspects after being held captive by another kidnapper who was allegedly the employer of the suspects in Las Piñas City.

The employer supposedly detained the victims for three days in a house in Las Piñas and that after getting ransom amounting to 1,500,000 Renminbi  (RMB) or more than P11 million, the victims were then sold to Zhui and Niu, who subsequently demanded P400,000 from Yong and Miai’s families in exchange for their release.

A certain Norman Reyes was allegedly tasked by Zhui and Niu to act as an intermediary between them and the victims’ families. However, when Reyes got the money, he immediately reported the incident to authorities, the police report said.

Operatives eventually set up an entrapment operation on Tuesday, August 24, in Barangay 13, Pasay City, where the suspects were arrested.

Police said the three suspects are now under the custody of Pasay City Station Detention Management Unit.
