2 – 3 tropical cyclones expected next month; isolated Thursday rains PH-wide due to ITCZ
MANILA, Philippines — Two to three tropical cyclones may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in September, the state weather bureau said Thursday.
This will be the trend until November, while one to two tropical cyclones are expected by December, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The chances of landfall are higher in November and December, it said.
Above normal rain conditions are expected in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental next month.
The La Nina will likely start in October but is not expected to persist, Pagasa said.
Article continues after this advertisementMetro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) , Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Ronblon, Palawan), Bicol region, Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone
Localized thunderstorms will affect the rest of Luzon.
No tropical cyclones are expected to affect the country until the weekend.
