MANILA, Philippines — Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 in San Juan City is now as easy as text messaging after the city government allowed registration of vaccinees through short messaging service.

Mayor Francis Zamora said this innovation in registering vaccinees also makes vaccination available for non-residents of San Juan but are working in the city.

(We are now running out of names of registrants online. So if you are not receiving text or not yet registered, you can now register through text.)

Those who wish to register using text message should send their complete name, age, birthday, address category, and phone number to 09683320245 (Smart) and 09674680548 (Globe), the local government said in their advisory.

(Vaccines are the most effective protection against COVID-19 especially now that the number of active cases soars due to new variants. Text the hotlines and register for your vaccines.)

San Juan opened the vaccination in the city for non-residents after 70 percent of its population got fully vaccinated for the new coronavirus.
