Olongapo logs record-high COVID-19 cases at 504

OLONGAPO CITY—At least 23 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded Monday in this city, bringing the active infections to 504, local health data showed.

The number was the highest active COVID-19 cases recorded in the city since the pandemic began last year.

The latest infected with the viral disease are residents aged 12 to 77 from nine of the city’s 17 villages.

The city has tallied 3,582 COVID-19 cases, but 2,887 of these have been cleared of the disease, including the 15 who recovered Monday.

The city’s recovery rate was at 80 percent, which is an all-time low.

The local task force said an 84-year-old woman was the latest to succumb to COVID-19, raising to 191 the city’s death toll.
