MANILA, Philippines — The 344-bed COVID-19 field hospital built by the Manila City government in Luneta Park is almost full.
This was according to the local government which reported that as of Friday, August 20, the facility’s 307 beds are currently occupied.
Also on Friday, Manila City said it has so far recorded 1,707 active cases, as well as 69,985 recoveries and 1,374 deaths. To date, the locality has confirmed a total of 73,066 COVID-19 infections.
The 4,402-square-meter hospital was completed in just 52 days, ahead of its 60-day deadline. Its construction started on April 20 and was finished on June 11.
The P154-million project, according to the Manila Public Information Office, was at no cost to the national government.
