Health protocol violation leads to ‘shabu’ arrest

/ 05:08 AM August 20, 2021

A man flagged for not wearing a face mask was arrested after Southern Police District (SPD) personnel recovered from him a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) with an estimated price of P170,000.

SPD Substation 9 was conducting Oplan Galugad, an anticriminality operation, along Roldan Street in Bicutan, Taguig City, on Wednesday when they encountered Jamoran Cayagcag, 27, who was not wearing a face mask.

But when the officers reminded him to follow mandatory health and safety protocols, Cayagcag tried to flee, prompting the cops to give chase.

The SPD said they retrieved from the suspect one hand grenade, one .38-caliber revolver, four .38-caliber live ammunition, and a heat-sealed transparent sachet containing around 25 grams of a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. —JANE BAUTISTA
