MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives arrested a drug suspect in Quezon City and seized P340,000 worth of “shabu” or crystal meth in a buy-bust operation Monday.

In a report released Tuesday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director PBGen Antonio Yarra identified the suspect as Ashary Mangondaya, 40 years old and a resident of Taguig City.

According to a police report, by acting on information from an informant, QCPD set up a buy-bust operation on Monday at about 5:30 p.m. on Maginhawa Street, Barangay Teacher’s Village East Quezon City.

Mangondaya was then arrested after a policeman dressed as a poseur buyer bought P35,000 worth of shabu from the suspect.

Police officers confiscated 50 grams of crystal meth worth P340,000, a cellular phone, and a motorcycle.

The suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.” The confiscated pieces of evidence will be submitted to the QCPD Crime Laboratory Office for examination and documentation.

“Despite the existing enhanced community quarantine, the QCPD police force will continue its intensified anti-illegal drugs operations,” said Yarra.
