Lacson offered ‘sure unification formula’ for 2022, but Robredo ‘resisted’
MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Senator Panfilo Lacson disclosed on Thursday that he offered a “sure unification formula” to Vice President Leni Robredo for the 2022 elections, but she “resisted.”
Lacson and Robredo earlier held a meeting where the “gist of discussion” was “unification” for the upcoming polls by having a common candidate to go against the administration bet, the senator said in an interview on ANC.
“I offered her a sure unification effort or formula to unite in the end. There was resistance. I won’t discuss the details, pero yun ang nakikita ko talaga,” Lacson said.
“She resisted. Hindi siya sold dun sa idea but it was a sure formula for putting up, at least between the two of us, a common candidate but unfortunately, she didn’t buy it,” he added.
Robredo, according to Lacson, is “definitely” still open to running for the presidency in 2022.

“I have a commitment to my partner that come hell or high water, talagang tutuloy na namin to,” he added, referring to his running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, who will be joining the vice presidential race.
