Manila City requires quarantine passes as NCR goes back to ECQ

MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila will be requiring quarantine passes when the National Capital Region returns to a hard lockdown starting Friday, August 6.

For this, it ordered officials of all barangays under its jurisdiction to issue quarantine passes – one for each family –  following the national government’s guidelines on authorized persons outside residence or APORs.

The local government unit also clarified that quarantine passes do not need the signature of a Manila Police District station commander.

It further noted that old quarantine passes would likewise be honored during this latest enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), which the national pandemic task force said will last until August 20.

Moreover, the Manila City government said individuals for vaccination against COVID-19 do not need quarantine passes in order to go to vaccination sites.

The city of San Juan also started Wednesday its distribution of quarantine passes to residents who are APORs.

President Rodrigo Duterte approved the proposal of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) and Metro Manila mayors to place the region under ECQ from August 6-20 in order to avert the possible spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant.
