Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo drop to 187

COVID-19 recovery rate in Olongapo City remains high at 86 percent

OLONGAPO CITY—The city saw a drastic drop in its active COVID-19 cases on Monday (Aug. 2) as more patients recovered from the viral disease, an official said.

Citing data from the local task force, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said 24 new recoveries and only eight new infections were recorded that day.

The figures brought down to 187 the city’s active cases, which reached 203 the previous day.

So far, the city has maintained an 88-percent recovery rate despite registering 2,975 infections since last year.

No fatalities related to COVID-19 were logged on Monday, which kept the city’s death toll at 167.
