SAN ANTONIO, Zambales With the recent detection of the more contagious COVID-19 Delta variant in other parts of the country, stricter border control has been enforced in this province to assure that only residents would be allowed entry, officials said on Monday.

Col. Romano Cardiño, provincial police director, told the Inquirer that even residents would be required to show identification cards to prove that they live in the province.

Operators of public utility vehicles were also reminded to require their passengers to register at the online portal, S-pass system, before allowing them to board.

This would ensure that no potential carrier of the virus could enter the province, said Cardiño. INQ
