NDRRMC counts 3 dead, 1 missing in monsoon rains

MANILA, Philippines—At least three people died and one was missing from heavy monsoon rains, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday (July 27).

One of the fatalities is a 39-year-old woman who died in a car accident caused by a fallen tree in Baguio City. No details were yet available for the two other fatalities.

Rescuers are searching for a 51-year-old man from Santa Maria town, Ilocos Sur province who was feared to have drowned.

Three people were reported injured in Baguio City, the NDRRMC said.

More than 200,000 people, or around 50,000 families, in Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Cordillera, and Metro Manila were affected by the monsoon rains. Around 26,000 people are in evacuation centers.
