The rizal Law or Republic Act 1425, which requires Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo” as compulsory reading in all schools, was enacted on June 12, 1956 to teach Filipino students nationalism. The main supporters of the law were former Senators Claro M. Recto and Jose P. Laurel. Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
