MANILA, Philippines — Torrential rains the past days did not stop Filipinos from getting themselves vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect themselves from the more virulent Delta variant.

A total of 473,356 COVID-19 vaccines were administered on Thursday — the highest registered so far — despite the heavy downpour brought by the southwest monsoon and intensified by Typhoon Fabian (international name: In-fa).

With this, 5,560,029 Filipinos have been fully vaccinated, while 10,866,238 have received their first dose, according to the National Task Force Against COVID-19.

The figures, however, were still far from the target of the national government to fully vaccinate 50 million Filipinos by the end of the year to achieve “population protection.”
