MANILA, Philippines — Former state witness Mary “Rosebud” Ong, who previously testified against then top cop Panfilo Lacson, her brother, and two others were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation for allegedly selling vaccination slots to nine Chinese nationals in Pasay City.
Eric Distor, director of the NBI, said Ong, her brother Peter Ogay Ong, Warlito Mabanan and Ferdinand Balagot, the barangay secretary of Barangay 187 in Pasay, were taken into custody on Friday after an entrapment operation conducted by undercover NBI agents.
He said the siblings were part of a group that supposedly offered slots for AstraZeneca for P7,000 each. The four were charged with estafa and violation of the antigraft law and Republic Act No. 11032, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.
