‘Performance team’: Several former, incumbent senators joining 2022 Senate race — Zubiri
MANILA, Philippines — Five members of the so-called “Performance team” are either seeking a comeback or re-election in the 2022 Senate race, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said Monday.
Zubiri, who said that he will seek re-election in 2022, said that there have been discussions among former and incumbent senators about campaigning together in next year’s polls as part of what he called a “Performance team.”
The team includes himself, former senators Loren Legarda and Chiz Escudero, as well as incumbent senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Joel Villanueva.
“We call this the Performance team as collectively we have passed dozens of laws that have made a difference in the lives of our kababayans,” Zubiri said in a text message to INQUIRER.net.
“Our performance as legislators is what we will present to the public come election season,” he added.

Zubiri said it is his performance that will campaign for him instead of his words.
“Ako naman ay tinututukan ko ang aking re-election. Babalik tayo muli sa halalan nitong 2022 at ibabalik natin muli sa taumbayan kung happy ba sila sa trabaho ko bihang senador at majority floor leader,” Zubiri said during the Laging Handa briefing.
